The increasing adoption of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platforms among students has raised concerns regarding financial behavior, self-control, and risk management within the digital economy, highlighting the need for empirical investigation in this context. This study employed a quantitative associative approach using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 100 active undergraduate students in Surakarta who had used Shopee PayLater. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS, supported by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on students’ interest in using Shopee PayLater. Risk perception also has a positive and significant effect on students’ interest. Simultaneously, financial literacy and risk perception significantly influence students’ interest in using BNPL services. The findings emphasize the importance of improving financial literacy and risk awareness among students to encourage responsible BNPL usage. Sound financial decision-making among young consumers can support sustainable consumption, minimize excessive debt risks, and contribute to financial system stability in the digital economy. This study simultaneously integrates financial literacy and risk perception to explain students’ interest in BNPL services at the city level, particularly in Surakarta. Unlike prior studies focusing on general consumers, this research provides specific empirical evidence from the student segment in Indonesia.
2026-01-28T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/159The Influence Of Ceo Power On Environmental, Social, Governance (Esg) Disclosure In Infrastructure Companies Listed On The Asian Stock Exchange In The 2019-2023 Period2026-02-05T02:23:43+00:00Irhamsi Gotea[email protected]
This study focuses on analyzing the influence of CEO power on ESG disclosure in infrastructure companies listed on the Asian Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. Globally, the implementation of ESG principles is increasingly considered crucial as a manifestation of a company's commitment to sustainability, in line with the sustainable development goals supported by the G20 countries. CEO PowerCEO duality, including share ownership and dual roles as CEO and chairman of the board of directors, are important factors that can influence a company's strategic decisions. However, this study found that CEO duality significantly influences ESG disclosure in companies. Meanwhile, CEO ownership does not significantly influence ESG disclosure. This suggests that CEO leadership structure does not directly drive increased transparency in ESG disclosure. This study suggests that companies should not rely solely on CEO leadership structure to improve ESG disclosure, but should also consider other factors such as board composition and external regulations. This is expected to provide a deeper understanding of the factors influencing ESG disclosure and how this can support better and more sustainable corporate governance practices.
2026-02-05T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/165The Impact Of The Expansion Of Gunung Rinjani National Park On Land Conflicts And Food Self-Sufficiency Of Local Communities2026-02-11T05:20:53+00:00Royal Sembahulun[email protected]Iwan Permadi[email protected]Ahmad Imron Rozuli[email protected]
This study examines the impacts of the expansion of Mount Rinjani National Park (TNGR) on land conflicts and local food self-sufficiency among communities living in surrounding buffer zones in Lombok Island, Indonesia. The expansion of conservation areas and the redefinition of zoning regulations have altered local land tenure systems, restricted access to productive and subsistence land, and intensified conflicts between conservation authorities and local communities, particularly smallholder farmers and indigenous groups. This research employs a qualitative case study approach, using in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis involving community members, customary leaders, TNGR officials, local government representatives, and civil society organizations. The findings reveal that land conflicts manifest in multiple forms, including tenurial disputes, horizontal social conflicts, ecological access conflicts, and economic competition related to tourism development. These conflicts have significantly reduced household food production capacity, weakened food diversification, and increased dependence on market-based food systems, thereby undermining local food self-sufficiency. From a political ecology perspective, the study shows that conservation expansion operates as a form of spatial control that reinforces power asymmetries and marginalizes customary land-use systems. The study concludes that effective conflict resolution requires an integrated governance approach that combines formal legal mechanisms with recognition of customary tenure through participatory and collaborative management. Strengthening conservation partnerships, inclusive dialogue, and equitable benefit-sharing mechanisms is essential to reconcile ecological conservation objectives with sustainable livelihoods and long-term food sovereignty of local communities.
2026-02-13T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/142Rethinking Cultural Proximity: Transnational Taste Formation Among Indonesian Female Audiences Of Boys’ Love Media2026-01-06T12:32:26+00:00Paramita Winny Hapsari[email protected]Dinda Shafira[email protected]Iqra Ardini[email protected]
This study examines how Indonesian female audiences construct cultural proximity toward Boys’ Love (BL) media through transnational exposure rather than local cultural affiliation. Although BL has gained significant popularity in Indonesia through Asian productions, locally produced BL content does not automatically achieve cultural closeness among audiences. This research addresses the gap in cultural proximity studies by questioning the assumption that local media inherently resonates more strongly with local audiences. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving two groups of Indonesian women: fans of Asian BL and non-viewers of BL. Participants were exposed to selected clips of Indonesian BL content and invited to share their interpretations, emotional responses, and evaluations. The data were analyzed thematically with cultural proximity as the primary analytical lens, supported by reception theory. The findings reveal that cultural proximity among BL audiences is shaped more by repeated exposure to transnational BL media, particularly from Thailand and Japan, than by national or cultural similarity. BL fans developed transnational taste standards related to narrative style, emotional tone, and production quality, which influenced their evaluation of Indonesian BL content. In contrast, non-viewers tended to rely on local moral and cultural frameworks when interpreting BL media. This study concludes that cultural proximity in the digital media environment is increasingly transnational and affective, suggesting the need to rethink cultural proximity beyond national boundaries in contemporary audience research.
2026-02-18T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/175A Community Engagement Approach To Enhancing Teachers’ Competence In Developing Sundanese Learning Materials For Primary Schools2026-03-05T00:38:16+00:00Yudhie Suchyadi[email protected]Rini Sri Indriani[email protected]Resyi A Gani[email protected]Nita Karmila[email protected]Dilla Eka Aprilia[email protected]Haula Ramadhanie[email protected]Kamilah Nuraini[email protected]Muhamad Irsyad Azharul HaQ[email protected]
This community engagement program aims to enhance primary school teachers’ competence in developing Sundanese learning materials that are contextual, innovative, and aligned with the characteristics of elementary school students. The program was implemented at SD Negeri Kedung Badak 2, Bogor City, involving a group of elementary school teachers as the main partners. The activities were conducted through several stages, including needs assessment, training on instructional material development, workshops for designing Sundanese learning materials, and mentoring during classroom implementation. The program emphasized the integration of local wisdom and cultural values of Sundanese society into learning materials to support meaningful and culturally relevant learning. The results of the program indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ pedagogical competence, particularly in designing contextual learning materials such as modules, worksheets, and simple learning media. Teachers demonstrated increased ability to develop innovative instructional resources and apply them effectively in classroom practices. Furthermore, the implementation of the developed materials contributed to higher student engagement and motivation in learning Sundanese language and culture. This community engagement initiative highlights the importance of collaborative partnerships between universities and schools in strengthening teachers’ professional capacity and promoting the preservation of local culture through primary education.
2026-03-04T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/166Utilization Of Instagram For The Dissemination Of Lupus Information: An Analysis Of The Four Pillars Of Social Media Strategy2026-02-12T22:43:27+00:00Mochammad Arifin Nafi[email protected]Lukman Hakim[email protected]
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic disease that still faces challenges in terms of health literacy, social stigma, and limited support for its sufferers. In this context, social media is a strategic medium for healthcare organizations to convey information, build audience engagement, and facilitate community support. This study aims to analyze the digital health communication strategy of the Lupus Indonesia Foundation through the @yayasanlupusindonesia Instagram account using the framework of the Four Pillars of Social Media Strategy of Safko and Brake. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the support of quantitative content analysis. The research data included 49 purposively selected Instagram posts, as well as audience comments collected through a scraping process using Apify's tools. The analysis is focused on the implementation of content strategies, audience engagement patterns, and user responses and sentiment. The results of the study show that the communication strategy of the Indonesian Lupus Foundation is not only oriented towards the delivery of health information, but also emphasizes a dialogical, collaborative, and empathetic approach. Communication and education-based content shows a relatively higher level of audience engagement, while the comment column serves as a digital social support space for people with lupus. These findings indicate that effective digital health communication in the context of chronic disease needs to integrate informational, relational, and affective dimensions simultaneously. This research provides a theoretical contribution in strengthening the relevance of the Four Pillars of Social Media Strategy in the study of digital health communication, as well as a practical contribution for health organizations in designing more participatory and sustainable social media communication strategies.
2026-03-11T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/181Educational Facility Needs Based on School-Age Population Growth: Evidence from Poso Regency, Indonesia2026-03-13T07:31:53+00:00Prilly Prichila Lagonda[email protected]Jawoto Sih Setyono[email protected]
This study aims to analyze the availability and distribution of educational facilities in Poso Regency in 2026. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed using secondary data collected through document analysis from official sources. The analysis was conducted based on the SNI 03-1733-2004 standard to compare the required number of educational facilities with existing availability across all subdistricts in Poso Regency. Population projection using the geometric method estimates that the school-age population will reach 223,190 in 2026, which serves as the basis for calculating facility needs. The results indicate that, overall, the availability of educational facilities in Poso Regency is relatively sufficient at the kindergarten, primary school, and junior high school levels, where the number of available facilities exceeds the calculated requirements. However, at the senior high school level, a deficit of 27 units was identified. In addition, the distribution of educational facilities remains uneven across subdistricts, as several areas still lack any senior high school facilities. This study contributes to educational planning by providing a data-driven assessment of facility adequacy based on school-age population needs. From a policy perspective, the findings highlight the need to prioritize the development and equitable provision of senior high school facilities, particularly in underserved subdistricts. Strategic efforts should focus on increasing the number of schools and improving the distribution of facilities to ensure more equitable access to education.
2026-03-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/177Does ESG Impact Financial Performance? Financial Constraints And Financial Slack As Moderators2026-03-05T14:00:58+00:00Richa Izzatul Zulfa[email protected]Ponny Harsanti[email protected]
This study aims to examine the effect of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors on financial performance, with financial constraints and financial slack serving as moderating variables. The study population consists of all energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2020–2024. The sample was determined using purposive sampling, resulting in 7 companies with a total of 35 observations. Data analysis was conducted using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with EViews software version 13. The results indicate that ESG has a positive effect on financial performance with a coefficient of 6.670 and a significance level of 0.034, financial constraints do not moderate the relationship between ESG and financial performance, as evidenced by a coefficient of -0.068 with a probability of 0.964. Conversely, financial slack was found to strengthen the effect of ESG on financial performance, with a coefficient of 3.029 and a significance level of 0.001. This study contributes to the development of ESG literature by incorporating financial condition as a moderating factor and provides practical implications for management in optimizing resources to support ESG implementation.
2026-03-31T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/186Exploring Student Satisfaction In Technology-Enhanced Learning And Institutional Competitiveness: A Systematic Literature Review2026-04-01T02:59:36+00:00Salya R. Susanto[email protected]Herry Mulyono[email protected]Benediktus Rolando[email protected]Alberta Ingriana[email protected]
Student satisfaction within technology-enhanced learning (TEL) environments is a pivotal factor influencing pedagogical effectiveness and higher education institutions' strategic positioning in a competitive landscape. However, critics highlight drawbacks, including dissatisfaction from the abrupt COVID-19 shift to online learning due to inadequate preparation, overburdened instructors, technostress, isolation in asynchronous courses, increased dropout rates, poor retention, and reputational damage. This systematic literature review synthesizes evidence from 64 peer-reviewed articles indexed in Scopus, published between 2020 and 2025 across multiple countries, to examine the key determinants of student satisfaction in TEL and their implications for institutional strategy and sustainability. The findings indicate that student satisfaction is a multifaceted construct shaped by pedagogical, technological, and support-related dimensions. These dimensions enhance learners’ perceptions and engagement, leading to improved retention, institutional reputation, enrollment outcomes, and overall competitiveness. The review also highlights the critical role of adaptive learning technologies and personalized instructional design in strengthening satisfaction. Furthermore, Institutions must strategically invest in robust TEL infrastructure and faculty development to optimize learning experiences and sustain long-term competitive advantage.
2026-04-22T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/190The Effect of Financial Performance on Company Value in Manufacturing Companies Listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange2026-04-12T12:30:25+00:00Agung Putrawan[email protected]Munawarah[email protected]Muslimin[email protected]Erwan Sastrawan Farid[email protected]
This study aims to analyze the influence of financial performance on the value of companies in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Financial performance is an important indicator for investors and management in assessing a company's ability to generate profits, maintain liquidity, and manage its funding structure efficiently. A company's value reflects the market's perception of its outlook and sustainability, making it an important factor in investment decision-making. This study uses a quantitative, explanatory approach. The data used is secondary data obtained from the annual financial statements of manufacturing companies published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange and from the companies' official sources. The research sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique based on specific criteria. Data analysis was carried out using panel data regression to test the influence of financial performance variables on the company's value. Financial performance variables are proxied by profitability, liquidity, and leverage ratios, while company value is proxied by Price-to-Book Value (PBV). The results of the research are expected to make theoretical contributions to the development of financial management studies, as well as practical contributions for investors, company management, and other stakeholders in understanding the factors that affect company value in the Indonesian capital market.

2026-04-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/161Analysis Of The Value Of Struggle In The Film ‘Mencuri Raden Saleh’ (Charles Sanders Peirce's Semiotics)2026-02-06T07:58:56+00:00Tryan Nugraha[email protected]Fauzan Heru Syahputra [email protected]
The film Mencuri Raden Saleh (2022) by Angga Dwimas Sasongko combines action, drama, and moral messages that represent the values of struggle, such as courage, solidarity, and sacrifice, through its plot, conflict, and visual symbols. As a form of mass media, film plays a role in shaping collective consciousness; therefore, this study utilizes Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics to analyze the use of icons, indices, and symbols in constructing a meaning of struggle that is both educational and reflective for the audience. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a sign analysis technique consisting of representamen, object, and interpretant. Data were collected through film observation, visual documentation. The research findings indicate that the values of struggle—such as courage, solidarity, sacrifice, determination, and perseverance—are strongly represented through visual, symbolic, and narrative elements in the film. Historical symbols, such as the painting "The Arrest of Pangeran Diponegoro," further strengthen the moral and social messages. In conclusion, this film serves as an effective medium of mass communication in conveying values of struggle that are relevant to the Indonesian socio-cultural context.
2026-04-26T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2026 JHSS (JOURNAL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL STUDIES)https://jhss-lppm.unpak.ac.id/index.php/JHSS/article/view/182Strategy For Book Collection Development Policies In Improving Library Services At The Library And Archives Office Of East Kalimantan Province2026-03-20T06:03:17+00:00Andi Anwar[email protected]Anwar Alaydrus[email protected]Santi Rande[email protected]
The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze the Collection Development Policy Strategy in Enhancing Library Services at the East Kalimantan Provincial Library and Archives Office and to understand the factors that support and hinder the Collection Development Policy Strategy in Enhancing Library Services at the East Kalimantan Provincial Library and Archives Office.
